CatPack Sport Fishing – Memorial Weekend Report

May 21–24, 2026

Fishing around Frankfort and the north beach stretch to the saddle produced steady action throughout Memorial Weekend, with a strong early‑season mix of kings and lake trout.

Harbor & Pier Program – Consistent Early Kings

The harbor continued to hold bait, and the early kings stayed tight to structure. The North Pier, South Pier, the Hump, and the North Wall all produced fish. Evening trips were steady, with kings coming on Super Slims in Soda, Wonder Veggies, and Half Wonderbread. The 3C–5C leadcore and 100 copper were the most consistent producers, with occasional rigger bites in 12–20 feet.

Morning Bite – North Pier to the Saddle

The morning program was fast. The stretch from the North Pier to the Saddle in 30–35 FOW produced multiple doubles and steady king activity from first light through 7:30 AM limit. Productive baits included Super Slim Soda, Wonder Veggies, Green Hulk, and Orange Crush on 2C–5C, 100 copper, and high divers. Kings in the 8–16 lb class were common, with the weekend’s largest at 16 lbs.

West Platte Bay – Mixed Bag

A run to West Platte Bay produced a mixed catch of kings and larger lake trout. The Golf Course area gave up several fish on Orange Crush, Green Hulk, and Fireball on braid divers and 2C–3C. A 15‑lb laker and another 16‑lb king highlighted the morning.

The early‑season kings are settling into the pier heads and the first breaks north. Bait remains heavy in the harbor, and the fish are riding high in the column at low light. Staying tight to structure and working the color lines has been the key.

Early spring is one of the most overlooked times to fish. Browns and steelhead stack up close to shore, surprise kings start showing in late May, and the lake trout fishing can be flat‑out fantastic.

Don’t miss out on this window — lower boat traffic, great sunsets, and usually plenty of action.

If you have preferred dates, be sure to book early. Looking forward to having you as our guest on the water.

Fast morning limit of kings and lakers!
